Paul Talma

I'm a PhD student at UCLA in the Philosophy department, co-advised by Michael Rescorla and Sean Walsh. My dissertation draws on reinforcement learning to develop a notion of optimality for action representations.

I am also a member of Remy Wang's RePL lab, where I contribute to Prela, a new high-performance, composable query language based on Tarski's Algebra of Relations.

I was recently a quantitative ML intern at QueensField.AI, working under CEO Arnaud de Servigny, where I designed, implemented, and evaluated ML models for time-series prediction.

I hold a B.A. in Philosophy from Stanford and an M.Sc. in Logic and Computation from the Institute of Logic, Language, and Computation at the University of Amsterdam.

I'm interested in work at the intersection of programming languages, compilers, and database systems. Feel free to reach out if you think I might be a good fit.
